Glyka or Glyko tou koutaliou, meaning spoon sweets, are traditional, homemade sweet fruit preserves, served in a spoon as a gesture of hospitality in both Greece and Cyprus. Spoon sweets are typically fruit preserved in syrup. Sugar is used as a natural preservative and no artificial sweeteners or preservatives are added to spoon sweets. The most popular fruits for Glyko are Cherries, Apricots, Bitter Oranges, Watermelon and Bergamot.
